The brilliant young cellist Ashley Bathgate has received accolades since she burst upon the scene just four years ago. The Albany Times Union has described her playing as "spontaneous and fresh.... Bathgate has established herself as a rising young star of the instrument. She demonstrated the full tone, generous musicality, long line and mature command of the instrument.... Bathgate is the kind of player, like Jacqueline du Pré was, who can enliven music, make it sparkle and radiate warmth." Her appearances include the Saratoga Music Festival, the Pleshakov Music Center, performances of Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations with the Lake Placid Sinfonietta, guest appearances with the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra, performances of the d'Albert Concerto with the American Symphony Chamber Orchestra conducted by Leon Botstein in 2002-03, European recitals in Paris and Moulin d'Ande, France with pianist Todd Crow, and many recitals throughout the upstate NY region.
Nancy Hull is the pianist and artistic director of Ensemble Selah. A stylistically versatile performer, she is equally at home with musical theater, jazz standards, and contemporary gospel, as well as classical music. She is in great demand as a chamber musician and accompanist and has performed with many New York Capitol Region ensembles, choral groups, and opera companies, and in area private studios. She has been the pianist for the Albany Symphony Orchestra, Saratoga Chamber Singers and the nationally acclaimed regional chorus, Albany Pro Musica. Nancy has served as the staff accompanist and vocal coach at the State University of New York at Albany. She has also served as the musical director, pianist, conductor and vocal coach for the New York State Theater Institute (NYSTI).
Magdalena Golczewski holds degrees from the Royal Academy of Music where she won the Henry Wood Award, the Brussels Conservatory where she won first prize in violin and chamber music and received a Virtuoso Diploma, and the Juilliard School of Music. A former member of the American Symphony Orchestra, she was a member of the Metropolitan Orchestra from 1972 to 2000. Co-Director of the Windham Chamber Music Festival, she has made many appearances in the upstate New York area as a soloist and chamber musician over the past six years.
