Dear Music Lovers,
Welcome to the ninth season of Windham Chamber Music Festival concerts in the acoustically superb and historically preserved Windham Performing Arts Center.
Because of the support of people like you, for the past five years many of our recorded concerts have been featured nationwide on National Public Radio's "Performance Today" program. The live recordings chosen by NPR come from many of the world's finest musical organizations, and it is an honor to be in such company. We believe that this is a wonderful thing for the entire Mountaintop region.
We are grateful for our ongoing close partnership with the Catskill Mountain Foundation as well as the dedicated work of our business manager, Kathleen Gray. This has given us the
support we need in order to continue bringing these concerts to the Mountaintop.
Our 2005 season opens on May 28th with the return of one of the world's greatest jazz pianists, Bill Charlap, in a solo recital on Windham's wonderful Yamaha Concert Grand Piano.
On July 9th Alejandro Mendoza, Si Nae Shim and the distinguished resident artists of the Amati Music Festival will present an enchanting program entitled "The European Romantics."
On July 16th the Mountaintop's 2005 Gala Summer Concert will feature the Windham Festival Chamber Orchestra with esteemed soloists Deborah Hoffman, Elizabeth Mann, Alan Kay and Sharon Meekins. Mozart's great Concerto for Flute, Harp and Orchestra will be the centerpiece for this popular musical event.
August 13th will bring the Windham debuts of our friends and new Hunter neighbors, Vladimir Pleshakov and Elena Winther. The great duo piano team will be joined by violinist and WCMF Co-Director, Magdalena Golczewski in a program of music by Mozart, Saint-Saens, Veracini and Liszt.
Finally, on September 3rd we are honored to present the Mountaintop debut of one of America's greatest violinists, Elmar Oliveira, the only American violinist ever to win the gold medal at Moscow's famed International Tchaikovsky Competition.
Please join us!
Your support has made it possible for us to build an ongoing chamber music festival that attracts world-class performers to the Mountaintop.
We hope that you will continue to support the Windham Chamber Music Festival!
Thank you so much!
Robert Manno Magdalena Golczewski
